My Story

Mailea Ang

Since I am a person with a wide variety of interests, I pride myself on my adaptability and perseverance during different situations. Throughout my work, I have fueled my projects through passion and the desire for my work to make an impact on anyone who views it, whether that be for my fellow students, families, or community members in Long Beach.

I held a summer internship for Congressman Mike Thompson in Vallejo and after a tumultuous few weeks of changing my major, I began interning for Long Beach Forward as a communication intern during my second year of college. Once my contract was completed I became an official member of the team by onboarding as an organizing fellow where I worked on our Participatory Budgeting Process, a democratic process where community members could vote on funding towards community projects.

After some time here, I transitioned and moved into my current positions as an intern for Hunnibuzz, a digital branding agency, and an undergraduate peer educator and certified QPR instructor for Project OCEAN, a mental health organization on campus.  Through CSULB, I am also the Outreach Coordinator for the Honor Code magazine, a lead coordinator for the Honors Peer Mentoring Program, the secretary of our branch of the Asian American Journalists Association, and the Director of Alumni Relations for PRSSA-LB. My interests have grown to include marketing, communication, and public relations. I am always in search of experience and growth is something I aspire towards in everything I do.
