Project Portfolio

Mailea's Workbook

What's on the menu today? These are the pieces I've poured my heart into over my college experience so far. I'm still growing every day and I hope my work reflects not only the progression and versatility of my skills but also my ability to learn and adapt in new environments. I put my 100% into what I do so when you look over my work think of not only what I can do now but also of the infinite possibilities for our future together!

My most recent pieces are at the top. These are only a few of the pieces that I've created over the past two, going on three, years but if you'd like to see more from me please reach out!

Mailea's Makeshift Portfolio for Hunnibuzz

Here is a graphic piece that I made for my interview with Hunnibuzz. As a person new to this field, I had not made a proper portfolio yet but I yearned to present some of my work in a fun and interactive way. I used their website to research some of their branding choices, such as specific colors and design assets, and then I designed a graphic appealing to their style with working links to my creations. Please download a copy below and click through to check out more of my pieces yourself!

Honor Code Intro Template Fall 2021

This is my most recent project for Honor Code. I collaborated with my team's social media manager and photographer to put this together. We're going to add our own edited photos in but the template acts as a base so it's easier to roll our content out.

Here is a story post I worked on for Hunnibuzz during World Smile Day, a holiday celebrating kindness and the exchanging of smiles worldwide. It occurs every year during the first Friday of October.

Project OCEAN's Ride the Wave Wednesdays

As one of the social media coordinators for Project OCEAN, I helped begin this new segment for relaxation and reflection. This installment focused on pets, which even included pets from our own team! I also shared the benefits of interacting with your pets and how it can benefit your wellness. Click to view the whole thing!

AAPI Community and Mental Health Live Chat

To honor AAPI Heritage and Mental Health Awareness Month, I organized and led a chat on both of these topics. I created graphics to promote the event and generate anticipation.

We broke down these topics with several guest speakers and focused on how mental health is understood in and impacts the Asian American Pacific Islander community.

Vote. It's your power.

This is one of the first projects I worked on during my transformative internship at Long Beach Forward.  We wanted to inspire younger populations like me to vote and we also wanted to engage the community. I participated in an intern live chat on voting where I shared my perspective and I created a video encouraging others to vote.

Watch our live chat here and you can see the video played at the beginning too!

As an Undergraduate Peer Educator and Social Media/Marketing Coordinator with Project OCEAN, Mailea continues to grow both professionally and personally and has demonstrated a commitment to educate the campus on suicide prevention, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and encourage students to seek help when needed. Mailea is such an asset to our program and she is not only able to lead a nationally recognized suicide prevention training called QPR with such confidence and thoughtfulness, but she also has helped to develop our marketing and public relations strategies to promote and share our events, workshops, psychoeducational materials and volunteer opportunities. She also creates beautifully designed infographics and social media posts and has helped to maintain all of our social media platforms."
